Hi and thanks in advance for any ideas/thoughts.
Since cutting over to a 48x based system last March, we have had random episodes where all phone numbers coming in over our single PRI circuit via the front panel T1 connection ring busy when called from inside or outside. When this happens, the left side status LED on the T1 input jack stays Amber (normal is off) According to the 48x manual, this indicates "Remote End Error" The only way we have found to get it out of this mode is to unplug the cable from the T1 jack, wait 30 seconds and re-plug. After a short delay, the LED goes out and the system returns to normal operation. This has happened 6 - 7 times in the past 4 months, at no particular set intervals.
Windstream has run numerous diagnostics, has replaced the 48x and the T1 cable, and we have had AT&T check the circuit and SMJ - and so far have not found any source for the problem. In case it matters, we also have two SIP circuits managed by the 48x that carry most of our numbers. WS had to leave about 2 dozen numbers on the PRI because of rate center issues and only those lines ( the ones on the PRI) are impacted.
If anyone has seen anything similar, or has info about what could cause this error condition, we'd be grateful for any help.
Thanks again,

Inbound calls ring busy on PRI circuit (48x)
Re: Inbound calls ring busy on PRI circuit (48x)
The only way to track it down will not make people happy. You will have to keep it down. Call your provider and have them run loop back tests. You can also run loop back on the allworx. The problem is most likely an issue in the 48x or at the card at the telco side.
Re: Inbound calls ring busy on PRI circuit (48x)
To thedude: Long overdue thanks for your input above!
The problem died down but has reappeared and we have a new lead. The Remote End Error lamp was set during a short power outage in our building today. The 48x and the SMJ are properly grounded and backed-up. Every function of the system recovered in a few minutes - except that the error condition did not reset - causing all inbound calls on the PRI to give busy signals.
We're now thinking we may have had other such random intermittent power blips in the past (usually at night) and the real problem is that the 48x stays in the error condition upon recovery. The only way to get it to reset is to remove the cable from the SMJ for several seconds and then reconnect. THEN the error code clears as it should.
Is there anything in the 48x programming or logic that can be checked to see why momentary loss or corruption of signal to the T1 input sockets would cause the Remote End Error to latch on and not recover?
Any leads would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance
