Hi everyone,

I have a system in place that has around 100 users. There is an issue that is becoming more and more frequent and I can't seem to figure out why. Phones will randomly lose their dial tone, and have to be restarted. They are powered by PoE and never lose power per say. They will be powered on, but have nothing on the display nor give a dial tone until you unplug the phone and plug it back in. This happens to random phones at random times. There is no real pattern to this madness. I have however noticed that it is starting to happen more frequently. It started randomly a few weeks ago with one or two phones per week. Now it is almost daily that this is happening. Nothing was changed config wise to the phone system or the network.

Any and all suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Is your system updated to 7.4.12.5?
All the same phone model, or various?
I have only noticed this happen to a 9204G I have at home with an AC Adapter hooked up - unplugging power fixes the problem. Haven't seen with any at the office on a PoE switch.
There was another person on the LinkedIn Allworx Group that mentioned this same thing recently started to him. He's thinking it is something introduced in a recent phone firmware update, but no resolution there yet.

I can't remember off the top of my head which firmware we currently have installed, but I know that there is an update for it out there. I am not 100% certain that this will fix the issue, but it's something we are going to try coming up soon. I was wanting to get some feelers out to see if anyone else has had the problem as well. All of our phones are mainly 9204's with a few 9224's thrown in the mix. The 9204's have their own network drop to the wall they are hanging on so they don't actually connect to the PC like the 9224's do. Users haven't reported that they lose network connection when their phone no longer has a dial tone.
