SILENT RING vs. NO RING

Can't find documentation anywhere on the difference between NO RING and SILENT for a Call Monitor PFK.

ANY SUGGESTIONS FOR THE FOLLOWING:

Office manager wants to 'cover' outside lines when receptionist is gone. these lines (a DID) ring to an extension that rings a call monitor with 3 appearances on reception phone.
Presently, those 3 are also on office managers' phone, NO RING. she'd love to 'toggle' the ring on and off....

I presume that if the call monitors are not programmed on office manager's phone, but reception phone is 'forwarded' to office manager, only the Call Appearance of the receptionist will forward, not the ringing Call Monitor lines. But if anyone knows differently let me know - I'm not on-site so I can't test live
