Poor intercom quality

We just installed a 6x with 11 handsets. Everything is connected to a Netgear FS726TP PoE switch. While outside calls seem just fine, the users are complaining that the quality of intercom calls is very poor and they have to keep repeating things. We also have a door lock connected, and they have to press the open key repeatedly to get it to open. We've never had this sort of problem before; does anyone have any suggestions on how to troubleshoot it?
