Port Forwards

Post by jvestrand »

Hi All,

I am having difficulty setting up remote port access for the Allworx server. I am currently using the following Configuration.

Modem-------->Router--------->Switch-------->Allworx Server and Allworx Phones

My router is in the DMZ of the Modem
My Ports are forwarded in the router to my Allworx LAN IP
My Allworx box is in LAN Host mode
WAN port is empty.

Using an external port scanner my ports appear closed. I thought maybe my router was the culprit, so I port forwarded 3389 to another PC behind the router and to no avail the port is OPEN to the outside. However, no ports for the Allworx appear opened.

I may have the ability to to use a secondary ethernet port on the modem directly to the WAN port and DMZ the Allworx box. I don't have enough cables to test right now. If I would do this, would that impact the internal LAN phones?

Thanks so much.

I switched to the WAN port directly to my modem as it has multiple LAN ports. Still no good.

Anyone have ideas?

The allworx must be in LAN host mode if it is behind a router doing NAT.
Make sure the modem is in bridge mode and not doing NAT otherwise you are being double NAT'ed.
Comcast likes to NAT unless you have a static ip. Most DSL modems also do NAT unless static ip.
(Check the status of the WAN port on the router, make sure it is a real public IP, not a 192.168.x.x or 10.x.x.x)

Are you trying to make remote phones work or remote administer the allworx ?
