I haven't found any documentation on what the Server Contact IP setting is for on the Allworx IP phones.
I'm planning on using a Domain Name rather than IP address on the phones. Will work better for failover to alternate server or if user wants to take their phone home with them (different DNS records for internal LAN and external Public).
The Server Contact IP field doesn't accept a Domain Name?
The phones work fine with that field blank or with the IP of the server in.
I'm confused on whether anything is really needed there.

Server Contact IP - what is it for?
Re: Server Contact IP - what is it for?
In setting up another IP phone I also noticed that the date/time works fine with the SNTP Time Server left blank.
Perhaps SNTP Time Server and Server Contact IP just use the Boot Server address if they are left blank?
