Voicemail to Email setup
Voicemail to Email setup
I am new to the site and I apologize if this has been asked and answered before. I have a customer for whom we are installing an Allworx 6x12 (with current software) and they wish to use the voicemail to email feature. I am needing to know exactly what info I need to obtain from the customer in order to set this up (server, ports, etc.). Thanks for the help!

Re: Voicemail to Email setup
The Allworx can be used as a mail server or client. It is easier to use it as a mail client on another server in that you don't have to worry about ISPs blocking ports, security issues, setting up PTR records and other antispam actions, etc.
To setup the Allworx as a client on your customer's mail server, you will need the following information:
SMTP server address - (usually something like mail.domain.com)
SMTP Port - by default it is 25, but you may need to use an alternative port like 587 for various reasons
Email address - you can have them create a new one for the Allworx or use an existing one
SMTP Username and Password - If their server requires outgoing mail authentication you'll need this.
Secure connection: SSL/TLS or None.
You configure this in the Email page under Servers.
After this is working, you need to create your Message Aliases (under Business). Here it is pretty self-explanatory. Select the user from the drop down menu, check the box if they want to keep a copy of the message on the phone, and then put in the email address(es) the voicemail gets sent to.
Hope that helps!
